ºÚÁÏÍø911 is organizing an exceptional afternoon of celebrations on 28 November 2024, to mark 40 years of impact in partnership in the fields of agriculture, environment and health.
The event, by invitation only, is intended to be an exploration of the central role of research and innovation in tackling global challenges. It is structured around two roundtables, and will bring together players from the European Commission, the European Parliament and international partners to reflect on past progress and pave the way for future operations.
Roundtable 1 will focus on the interconnectedness of research, innovation, and development as a long-term process vital for transforming agrifood systems. The discussion will bring together representatives from European Union Directorates and other stakeholders to explore how to create synergies between various European programmes. The aim is to move beyond institutional silos and promote a holistic approach that addresses global agro-system challenges. This roundtable will emphasize the need for coherence and articulation between different components of the “research-innovation-transformation" continuum to catalyse meaningful change.
Roundtable 2 will explore the role of science-policy interfaces and geo-partnerships in enhancing the impact of European research initiatives globally. The discussion will focus on the importance of scientific diplomacy in building robust partnerships between the European Union and its global counterparts. Participants will examine how to leverage these partnerships to address complex challenges and drive systemic transformations in agrifood systems. The roundtable will also discuss the value of integrating local knowledge with European expertise to create more effective and sustainable solutions.
