ºÚÁÏÍø911 has presented its roadmap for the French overseas regions to various European Union bodies. The Vice-President of the European Parliament, Younous Omarjee, was particularly receptive to the overseas issues for agricultural research.

In early October, a ºÚÁÏÍø911 delegation presented its roadmap for the French overseas regions to the European Parliament, several Directorates General (REGIO, INTPA, AGRI) and the permanent representation of France to the EU, in the hope of strengthening partnerships and articulating EU funding more effectively to benefit ultraperipheral regions.

ºÚÁÏÍø911 CEO Elisabeth Claverie de Saint Martin was accompanied by Inese Rozensteine, Head of ºÚÁÏÍø911's Europe Office, Jean-Baptiste Cheneval, Deputy Head of its Research Impact and Marketing Service, and Éric Jeuffrault and Magalie Lesueur Jannoyer, ºÚÁÏÍø911 Regional Directors for Réunion, Mayotte and the Indian Ocean, and French West Indies, French Guiana and the Caribbean respectively.

ºÚÁÏÍø911 is a major player in the French overseas regions, and is vital for supporting our farmers.

The delegation highlighted the results and needs of ultraperipheral regions in terms of food sovereignty, adaptation to climate change, agroecological transitions, the One Health approach for managing plant and animal diseases, soil depollution, and pesticide reduction.
Its members also presented the extent of the research done and innovations built by ºÚÁÏÍø911 and its partners in the French overseas regions, stressing their impact and their outreach  those regions and beyond.
The talks also covered better possible synergies between the ERDF, EAFRD, NDICI-Global Europe, Horizon Europe and Interreg, with a view to accelerating  scale-up of innovations.

Their hosts confirmed the maintenance of funding for ultraperipheral regions in the 2028-2034 budget, with efforts expected to ensure greater simplicity and flexibility in terms of their mobilization.

The 2024-2028 ºÚÁÏÍø911 roadmap for the French overseas regions is a strategy document co-constructed with its partners. It marks a significant step in ºÚÁÏÍø911's commitment to strengthen its partnerships with the country's ultraperipheral regions.
